Karel Čapek: Nine Fairy Tales 1
(Bird Tale, Tale of the Rogue, Tale of the Waterman)
Kniha Devatero pohádek plus jedna od Josefa Čapka jako přívažek vyšla poprvé v roce 1931, v období hospodářské krize. Since then, it has received many re-releases, as well as television and film adaptations of selected fairy tales. Of course, the fairy tales were also adapted for radio, as they are linguistically interesting for this medium. Subsequently, several audiobooks with selected fairy tales were published. The actor Vlastimil Brodský liked Čapek's texts. He was in tune with the humanity that was noticeably felt in them. He liked the writer's style and rich vocabulary, which was evident in Čapek's stories, sketches and feuilletons, as well as in his fairy tales. Čapek's fairy tales could be considered a model of modern children's literature. Their reading performed by Vlastimil Brodsky as a model of storytelling on the microphone. After all, telling bedtime stories was his masterful role on the airwaves. Both the author and the actor were prominent figures of Czech culture and had a perfect feeling for their native language.
