Slow productivity

Can't keep up? Struggling to focus on important tasks? Or are you even on the verge of burnout?

We perceive busyness and stress as synonyms for productive effort, which leads to lengthy to-do lists, constant multitasking, and a scattered mind. And if we still haven't got everything done, we just have to speed up even more!

However, in his latest book from Melvil, Cal Newport shows that the opposite is true: the key to excellent results is to do less. He uses the work habits of prominent thinkers, scientists, and artists to demonstrate why the current definition of productivity is flawed, and he introduces a more sustainable way of working—one that guarantees more focus, creativity, and great results.

This book will allow you to slow down, thanks to insights such as:
It's often not our boss or clients who are to blame for us working ourselves to the bone, but ourselves.
Working at maximum capacity actually delays the completion of important tasks.
Transparent communication will help you with overload more than sophisticated task management systems.
We can learn about a natural work pace with variable intensity from hunter-gatherers.
How to get others on your team to pull their weight instead of shifting the work onto you.

We've been trying the fast approach to work for at least the last seventy years. It doesn't work. The time has come to try something slower.
