Prague Super Quartet: Prague Super Quartet - CD

The name of the Prague Super Quartet is a confident name, but at the same time apt. All four of its members - Jiří Stivín, Emil Viklický, František Uhlíř and Josef Vejvoda - represent the best of Czech jazz, have known each other for many decades and performed and recorded together many times.
They formed their occasional quartet in 1990 to order for performances in Germany in the early 1990s and played at several prestigious jazz shows, mostly abroad.
The recording for this album was made in Mikulov at the Jazz Evenings, held in honor of Karel Krautgartner. Although the members of the Prague Super Quartet are renowned composers, they include exclusively jazz standards and Moravian folk songs in their joint repertoire.
