Pride and Prejudice - DVD
One of the most widely read and beloved literary bestsellers, Pride and Prejudice by British author Jane Austen, returns to the silver screen after more than sixty years. This dreamlike journey to late 18th-century England, featuring a star-studded cast, enchanting cinematography, and a timeless story, will slow down the frantic pace of modern life for at least two hours.
This classic tale of love and misunderstanding follows the lives of the five beautiful Bennet sisters, whose mother (Brenda Blethyn) firmly instils in them the belief that a woman can only be truly happy if she marries a wealthy man. Only Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) has so far successfully resisted this notion, fully supported by her doting father (Donald Sutherland). When the single and, most importantly, wealthy Mr Bingley moves into a nearby manor, the Bennet family, led by their mother, senses an opportunity for an advantageous match. The eldest daughter, Jane (Rosamund Pike), a sensitive and beautiful young woman, immediately falls for Mr Bingley. The younger Elizabeth, meanwhile, takes a liking to his friend, Mr Darcy (Matthew Macfayden), who appears to be an insufferable snob and, to make matters worse, seems to be involved in the crisis that later disrupts Jane and Mr Bingley's relationship. Is it possible to hate and love one person with equal passion?
