Rosemary's having a baby
Something terrible happens in every house now and then...
The Evil Year of 1966. The newlyweds Woodhouse rented an apartment in a swanky apartment building on New York's Seventh Avenue, conceived their first child, and miraculously landed the father-to-be a lucrative acting role. Rosemary's head is spinning from the stress, but fortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Castevet live next door, who will dispel her pregnancy blues, get her a better gynecologist, and supply her with a pain-relieving drink. You could say "nice neighbours" - but those two are getting more and more pushy.
Accident follows accident, accident follows accident, and the expectant mother's distress that something unfair is happening around her grows alarmingly stronger. Rosemary knows she has to keep her eyes peeled and her ears pricked, but what's going on here? That remains to be seen in the house of horror lore that has thrilled a host of the author's predecessors.
Based on the mystery thriller, Roman Polanski made a film of the same name (1968) with Mia Farrow. In 2014, his compatriot Agnieszka Holland adapted the novel for HBO.
They wrote about Rosemary has a baby
"In the field of suspense, Levin is doing like a Swiss watchmaker who makes the rest of the competition look like the snitches from the convenience stores."
Stephen King
"This blackly brilliant tale of modern occultism will have audiences believing the unbelievable. I believed her and she absolutely charmed me."
Truman Capote
"The main purpose is to frighten the reader and make them feel distressed. And the author definitely succeeds in this. The book's great strength is its psychological aspect, which surpasses many later horror stories."

Ira Levin
Ira Levin knew the overwrought face of his native New York unusually intimately. The son of an American-Jewish toy dealer from the Bronx and a graduate of philosophy and English at New York University, he was drawn from childhood to the terrifying legends of "the city that never sleeps." He learned to escalate the tension in his plays (The Critic's Decision, The Snares of Death) and in his first book Kiss Me and Die (1953, no. 1993). The ultimate piece of horror suggestion was in his novel Rosemary's Baby (1967, no. for the first time in 1976), which was followed thirty years later by a loose sequel, Rosemary and Her Son (no. 1997). He mixed a famous blend of crushing reality with nightmares in his novel The Stepford Maids (1972, no. 1975; Frank Oz film with Nicole Kidman), in which he described the process of women's enslavement in middle-class households. He tried out the techniques of science fiction in his prose The Wonderful Day (1970, no. 1994) and projected them into the thriller The Boys from Brazil (1976, no. 1994), where he summoned the ghost of the Nazi murderer Mengele. The novelistic work of the father of American horror has been completely - and in some places repeatedly - filmed, which is also true of his other masterful thriller Someone is Watching (1991, words. 1993; Phillip Noyce film with Sharon Stone).
