Selected chapters from physiology

The publication offers the reader topics that have not been comprehensively treated in our literature and to which no due attention has been paid.

The reader will thus become familiar with the principles of regulatory mechanisms and their integration, the physiology of individual stages of human ontogeny, physiological peculiarities and changes during the neonatal period, the role of calcium in the organism, membrane transport processes and skin physiology.

The style of writing and the personality of the individual authors are reflected in the treatment of each chapter, but the chapters have a common goal – to present the physiological topics mentioned with some insight and thoughtfulness, thus directing the reader further in his studies and also showing the complexity and beauty of physiology as a field.

The book is intended not only for undergraduate students of general medicine, dentistry, and non-medical medical disciplines including pharmacy, but also for postgraduate students and physicians and other professionals. It was written by a team of authors from the Institute of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University.
