The Seven Sisters #1
Six young women from different corners of the world gather at the luxurious Atlantis estate on a private peninsula on Lake Geneva, brought home by a sad event: the death of their adoptive father. As part of their inheritance, each sister receives a letter with clues that can lead them to their biological family. And so the eldest sister, the charming translator Maia, finds herself in Brazil, where the coordinates from her father's letter lead her. In Rio de Janeiro, with the help of a local writer, Florian, she traces the steps of the noble and once-powerful Aires Cabral family and discovers that to unravel the mystery of her origins, she must go back several generations. To her great-grandmother, Izabela, who, during the construction of the famous statue of Christ, as an engaged eighteen-year-old girl, travels to Paris with the family of the project's main architect, where she falls passionately in love with a young sculptor, Laurent. Their secret love continues in Rio, and although Izabela marries her high-born fiancé for her parents' sake, it does not remain without consequences… As Maia searches for the moving fates of the women in her family, she falls more and more under the spell of her native Rio, but also under the spell of her charming guide. The journey into the past helps her to come to terms with an unhappy decision in her youth that she has kept secret for years…
