Turn-based strategy genre with Battle Royale game mechanics
New mechanic for expanding cities and units across multiple tiles

Suitable for experienced players and newcomers thanks to the tutorial system
Civilization VI introduces a fundamental change to the game mechanics that affects strategic planning from the very beginning. Cities now physically expand across the map, taking up multiple tiles, which requires thoughtful placement considering the terrain and future growth. Similarly, support units can now be embedded within other units, for example, anti-tank support within infantry. This gives you new tactical options and will require you to adapt your tried-and-tested methods to the new game rules.
Accessibility for Veterans and Newcomers
The game is designed to be enjoyed by both seasoned strategists and players who are just starting out with the Civilization series. For newcomers, there is an improved tutorial system that gradually guides them through all the key concepts and mechanics. Veterans, on the other hand, will appreciate the sophisticated options for building and customising their civilisation. Active research in technology and culture opens up new paths for advancement, allowing you to experience each game differently and try out various strategies.
