So good they won't miss you
The bestselling author of Deep Work teaches you to be so good you won't be overlooked
Are you stuck in your professional life? Don't know what kind of work would bring you satisfaction and fulfillment? Just don't follow the overused advice to "follow your passion" and "do what you love" when looking for it. This lesson is not just a romantic myth, but downright dangerous - it leads to chronic fluctuation and anxiety once your dream inevitably hits the concrete wall of reality.
Cal Newport has better advice: feeling happy at work will not be brought about by your "dream job", but by your skills and your desirability on the labour market. The book disproves decades of career advice and shows that you can, and even must, build your ideal job yourself. And above all, it will teach you how to work your way up to it step by step.
They wrote about the book So Good They Won't Overlook You
"An optimistic work with clear logic and no harmful advice, useful for all newcomers to the job market, but also for those who can't find meaning in their current career."
Publishers Weekly
In the book you will learn, among other things:
- Why trying to look for a job based on enthusiasm is harmful. - What kind of labour market are you in and what does it mean for you. - What is career capital and how to build it purposefully. - That a great job usually has three main features: is creative, it gives you influence and control over your work. - How to apply the "small stakes" system when looking for new opportunities. - What is the rule of remarkability and what will lead you to mastery in your field. - What pitfalls await you on the road to greater work freedom and how to avoid them.
Cal Newport
