Spilka Vilém Quartet: Waiting for Tom - CD

After the success of the album Podvod, which is processed by the campfire evergreens of Honza Nedvěd, the jazz group Vilém Spilka Quartet releases the album Waiting for Tom. The author of all the compositions is the bandleader, guitarist and co-founder of the JazzFestBrno jazz festival Vilém Spilka. “Our new album doesn' t offer such an obvious leitmotif as the previous Scam, but we hope it has at least as strong a musical and, in fact, a non-musical message. We called it Waiting for Tom and it is mainly dedicated to our children, ”says Vilém Spilka. The inspiration for the songs on the album Waiting for Tom was mainly the children of most of the band members. Tom is the six-year-old son of saxophonist Radek Zapad and it' s not easy. Actually, he may, but the people around him don' t - he lives with an autism spectrum disorder. “The title song is just about waiting to see what comes out of it. If Tom tells us anything. If he wants to be part of our world. Thanks to him, autism has become a source of inspiration for me, and because the causes of its origin are still shrouded in mystery, we also try to depict a mysterious mood through other compositions on the record, dur-minor bipolarity, contrast between spontaneity and organization, free thinking and responsibility, Says Spilka.
