The second, expanded edition of the publication 'T. G. M. in a Nutshell' presents significant aspects of the life of the first Czechoslovak president, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, in a clear and readable format, offering a basic orientation on the subject. It covers his childhood, student years, family, academic disputes, and political involvement. It presents a defining personality of Czech society, a protagonist in many causes who also gained fame abroad. Masaryk is shown as a son, father, politician, scientist, professor, and statesman, as a man who was ahead of his time in both his public work and his private life. Each chapter is supplemented by a section titled 'How Life Was', which evokes the atmosphere of the era, and a profile of a contextual personality. A number of experts contributed to the book, incorporating the latest historiographical findings into their topics. The broader team of authors offers various perspectives on T. G. Masaryk and a diverse range of interpretations. This richly illustrated publication contains period photographs, caricatures, maps, and facsimiles of documents. The book is based on a series that appeared in the pages of Lidové noviny in the autumn of 2017.
