The Condemned

Many people have difficult parents. But Nicola Fischer’s father has just been convicted of murdering five young women—including her best friend. Nicola has lost her job, she's being hounded by journalists, and she spends her time aimlessly scrolling and making drunken late-night phone calls to Greer Woods, the host of a successful true-crime podcast. It was Greer who broke the case, turning Nicola's life upside down before disappearing without a trace. When Nicola finally receives an email from Greer, there's no apology or explanation, just a strange invitation to an annual weekend retreat for the children of serial killers, hosted by a bizarre club of which Nicola has unwillingly become the newest member. In an attempt to escape her life for a little while, she accepts the offer and gradually gets to know the other attendees, who seem both likeable and slightly unsettling. And when an uninvited guest shows up later, the atmosphere immediately thickens. But the next morning, paranoia turns to fear: one of them is found dead. And everyone else has only one question on their minds: Who inherited more than just a name?
