On a bright Icelandic summer night, the body of a young girl is found. She is lying on a flower-adorned grave belonging to the Icelandic freedom fighter Jón Sigurdsson. Detective Erlendur and his colleagues from the Reykjavík CID, Sigurdur Óli and Elinborg, immediately see that this death has much to do with the drug trade. But why is the girl lying on this particular grave? What is this staging meant to achieve? The police investigation proves to be very sensitive, as the circle of suspects includes a well-known public figure... Another thrilling and complicated case for Detective Erlendur.
