The King of Bohemia entrusts Oldrich of Chlum with a delicate investigation. The Bishop of Prague owns the deed of gift of the present king's grandfather to the village of Makotřasy, about which Přemysl II. Otakar is convinced that it belongs to him. The royal prosecutor begins to investigate and stumbles upon the murder of an Old Town bourgeois woman who was being supported by several wealthy men, including the High Chamberlain. Although it doesn't seem so at first glance, Oldřich of Chlum soon discovers that the two crimes are connected. Slowly, he begins to unravel a tangle of complex intrigues, which this time lead him into the winding and gloomy streets of Prague's Old Town. But he's always got someone on his tail making sure that everyone who knows something dies.
