LP Record Product information Monk's Dream is the first album Thelonious Monk released on Columbia Records after his less-than-amicable departure from Riverside Records. Although Monk had previously recorded all the tracks on the album, with the exception of "Bright Mississippi", in various line-ups, the strong cohesion of the quartet resulted in a first-class work worthy of the praise it received at the time of its release and continues to receive today. It became Monk's best-selling album ever. The title track, "Monk's Dream", was originally recorded by Monk ten years earlier for Prestige in a trio version on 15th October 1952 (which is included here as a bonus). The pianist also originally recorded the tracks "Bye-Ya" and "Sweet and Lovely" in 1952.
