Thirst

Thirst - Harry is back in full force and with all his might

Jo Nesbo continues the same line that he began with The Snowman and further developed in The Leopard and subsequent works. Thirst once again delivers a brisk and dramatic plot full of surprising twists and turns, Harry's sarcastic remarks and peculiar behaviour.

In Oslo, the murders of several women who had arranged to meet through the dating site Tinder occur in quick succession. To the investigative team, now under the command of Katrine Bratt, ...reason remains above manner, with which the victims were killed, and a fact, that some of their blood always disappeared from the crime scenes. Police Chief Mikael Bellman needs to solve the case as quickly as possible to move up the career ladder.

He therefore calls back Harry Hole, who has since moved in with Rachel at Holmenkollen and wants to enjoy a happy married life and a quiet teaching career at the police academy. However, given the brutality of the murders, he is afforded none of that. Circumstances force him to set up an alternative investigation group and start following the trail. But getting to the truth is not easy, especially when life at some point confronts him with a major dilemma: whether to give priority to his family or to the investigation.

„Thirst is a joy to read. Nesbo plays with words and the reader, avoiding clichés, and his style is varied and rhythmic. The scenes flow gracefully into one another, the author has largely done the work of a screenwriter as well. This also applies to the way Nesbo presents the story – in concrete terms, with many details, everything is easy to imagine. “

"You won't find a move like that anywhere else."
- Tvedestrandsposten, Norway

"Jo Nesbo has a gift for writing novels with both criminal and psychological plots, in which the solving of a murder is always supported by the honest work of the investigators. Thirst is good. Very, very good. “
- Bogblogger. dk, Denmark

„In the eleventh installment of his most successful detective series, Nesbo clearly shows why he is one of the biggest stars of this genre. Thirst is thus basically lacking nothing at all. It has drive, a good dose of tension, original humor, and is so easy and quick to read that you' ll hardly notice that the end is approaching..“
