Jiří Anderle in Pavlíkov
Recorded in March 2016 in Pavlíkov, selection compiled by Tomáš Černý
Láska za lásku (Love for Love) is a series of audio pictures that began broadcasting on the then-station Prague on the first of May 1997. It would have been hard to predict that more and more sketches, etchings, drypoints, watercolours, and oils, all meticulously produced acoustically with the help of Žanda the parrot, would be created over two decades. Jiří Anderle proved himself not only as an artist whose works hang in New York alongside Picasso or Leonardo da Vinci, but also as a storyteller, which is one of the highest categories of radio mastery. The Central Bohemian town of Pavlíkov became a truly mythical place of the master's childhood, an endless source of scenes and situations. Many wondered if Žanda the parrot really existed. “What is Pavlíkov really like?” Tomáš Černý asked himself. An idea was born: after hundreds of broadcasted shows, to go and record at least one directly there. And so they went.
Conversations with Tomáš Černý about childhood memories, painting, important encounters, and plans for the rest of his life. Recorded in March 2016 in Anderle's native Pavlíkov and in the gallery bearing his name.
“Time rushes madly on, communism collapses, and the euphoria of life in freedom arrives. I create more series, prepare exhibitions, and by another happy coincidence, I meet Vlado Příkazský. In 1997, he convinces me to start telling my stories. Ladies and gentlemen, I am deeply honoured that you listen to my shows. Thank you!” Jiří Anderle
