Ubrová / Kašuba / Kummer: Just Like - CD

Dagmar Ubrová first appeared on stage in 2009 in Jiří Vondrák's show at the Chanson Theatre. With Ondra Kramoliš and Petr Hloušek she founded the band uBer!, with which she recorded the albums První barování and Universum between 2010 and 2016. He performs with jazz guitarist Milan Kašuba and his group, occasionally with the Big Band of the Brno Conservatory Mojda Bártek. Milan Kašuba celebrated his 80th birthday this year. He is a true legend of jazz guitar and a respected composer. From the age of seven to fourteen he played the violin in music school. He took up the guitar later in Prague, where he learned to be a goldsmith. In 1962 he started his career as a professional jazz guitarist in the Evening Brno Theatre. In the second half of the seventies he founded the Brno Guitar Duo with guitarist Jiří Adam, later joined by singer Mirka Křivánková and Jan Beránek on baritone violin. This led to the formation of the jazz band Ornis in 1978, with which Kašuba played over one hundred and twenty performances throughout the country. Milan Kašuba has recorded dozens of compositions for Czech Radio Brno, and in 1999 he released the CD Friends together with double bassist Petr Kořínek. Double bass player Vincenc Kummer, accompanied a number of Czech jazz soloists from the 1960s onwards, and eventually his path led him to Swiss exile. Here he played as a resident bassist in Zurich with world stars of the jazz sky such as: Dexter Gorden, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Barker and many others. After returning to his native Brno, he began to collaborate with musicians of the emerging jazz generation. One of the results of these collaborations is the Cotatcha Orchestra, where Vincenc Kummer, apart from being a double bassist, is also an excellent big band composer and arranger. CD Just Like was recorded live at the Wallachian Spalice 2020.
