A new novel from the author of the highly acclaimed The Bullies
A story about three friends who are going to a weekend party in London to celebrate their 40th birthday. Peter sits bare-assed in chamomile tea and dreams of wild sex. Mark is planning suicide. Adam wants a wedding and maybe even a baby.
The average Czech man lives to be seventy-six, which means that if you are a man and you are forty, you are in the second half of your life. The worse half. There is anxiety about how much time you have left, who you have become and who you will never be again. The chances of change seem slim and you begin to realise the finality of your life. And if you feel like you've neglected, missed or didn't enjoy the first half, now is your last chance to fix it.
Three friends and former classmates are going to a weekend party in London to celebrate their 40th birthday. Booze, sex, food, football and bullshit about everything and nothing. All of this to dispel the common uneasiness of the fact that it is time to take stock in their lives. But more than just their age will change over the coming weekend.
