You'll find me in Havana
Cuba 1936. Nine-year-old Estelita sings for the first time in a smoky Havana nightclub. From that moment on, the admiration of the audience and the spotlight become the only treasure that no one can take away from her. From Havana, he will head to Copacabana in New York and then to Hollywood. She can't be broken either by the revolution that plunges her family into poverty or by the fickle world of cinema, where her former and future husbands hold the door for her.
Thirty years will pass. Estelita's barely grown daughter Nina is caught off guard by her mother's untimely and mysterious death. In her grief, the girl recalls a series of painful memories of their life together and gradually begins to understand what her mother had to sacrifice in order to fulfill her American dream.
The novel in letters, You'll Find Me in Havana, is based mostly on true events and exclusive interviews given to the author by Estelita's daughter, Nina Martinez, née Lopez. The author weaves two unmistakable and different female voices into one extraordinary story that tells not only about the unbreakable bond between mother and daughter, but also about the difficult journey to self-discovery.
