Phlogenzyme is a preparation containing a combination of two proteolytic enzymes (protein cleaving substances) of plant and animal origin supplemented with the plant flavonoid rutoside, which interfere favourably in various phases of the inflammatory reaction and immune processes. Phlogenzym belongs to the group of preparations used in disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The components of Phlogenzym work in synergy to break down harmful metabolic products at the site of inflammation, to absorb swelling, bruising and sprains. They modify the permeability of the vascular wall and thus also reduce the formation of swelling. Phlogenzyme reduces the vascularity of the blood and positively influences certain properties of platelets and red blood cells that are involved in the formation of blood clots (thrombi). This improves the blood flow in small blood vessels and thus regulates the blood supply to the tissues, their supply of nutrients and oxygen. All this promotes and accelerates the healing and regeneration of tissues and reduces pain associated with inflammation.
Unless otherwise directed by a physician, it is recommended to take 6 tablets per day (2 tablets three times per day). In specific cases (e.g. in the severe course of the disease, at the onset of acute inflammation, for conditions following injury or surgery, where it is necessary to ensure rapid absorption of the swelling, bruising and sprains) can be taken up to 12 tablets a day (4 tablets three times a day or 3 tablets four times a day) after consulting a doctor, for a maximum of 2-3 days, this dose must not be exceeded. For post-traumatic swelling, do not take this product for more than 14 days without consulting your doctor. Always consult a doctor for prolonged use. If you do not feel better within 14 days or if you feel worse, consult your doctor. For other reasons for using the medicine, follow the dosage and duration of treatment instructions given to you by your doctor. The product is intended for use in adults. Phlogenzym may be used for the supportive treatment of post-traumatic swelling without consulting a physician. Tablets should be taken at least 30 minutes before or at least 90 minutes after a meal and washed down with plenty of water (approximately 250 ml). Enterosolvent tablets must not be chewed, split or crushed as the coating protects the tablet from deterioration in the stomach.
Some patients with chronic diseases may experience a worsening of symptoms after starting treatment with Phlogenzym. In this case, the drug should not be discontinued, but a temporary reduction in the existing dosage should be considered. In such circumstances, it is necessary to consult a doctor. If you are due to have surgery, tell your doctor that you are taking Phlogenzym. Taking Phlogenzym may cause side effects in patients who suffer from allergic reactions to fruit components such as pineapple.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Phlogenzym. This medicine does not replace antibiotic treatment for infectious inflammation, but it does increase its effectiveness.
