The SAPPHIRE PULSE B550M motherboard forms the foundation for builds using AMD Ryzen processors with an AM4 socket. As an AM4 mATX board, it combines compact dimensions with modern features, making it ideal for building powerful, space-saving computers. At the heart of this AMD B550 board is a chipset that unlocks key technologies, such as the PCI Express 4.0 interface for the graphics card and one of the M.2 storage slots. The board supports 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation Ryzen processors, providing a stable platform for both gaming and professional use. It offers support for modern components and interfaces, including fast M.2 SSDs and overclockable DDR4 memory. Connectivity includes a fast 2.5Gbps network card and graphics outputs for processors with an integrated GPU. Passive cooling of key areas and the power delivery system contribute to reliable operation even under heavy load.
A digitally controlled 8+2 phase power system ensures a stable power supply to the processor. It dedicates eight phases to the CPU cores and two to the SoC components. Each phase delivers up to 63A, which creates enough headroom to power multi-core Ryzen processors, even when overclocking. The temperatures of the power circuits (VRM) and chipset (PCH) are kept under control by aluminium passive heatsinks. Their design efficiently dissipates heat and maintains optimal operating conditions for key components.
The board includes two slots for DDR4 RAM, which operate in Dual-Channel mode to increase data throughput. After overclocking, it supports modules with frequencies exceeding 4000MHz, contributing to higher system performance, especially in memory-sensitive applications and games. For graphics card installation, the primary PCIe 4.0 x16 slot offers double the bandwidth of the previous generation. It is complemented by one PCIe 3.0 x4 slot, suitable for installing additional expansion cards such as a sound card or a high-speed network adapter.
For data storage, the board offers two M.2 slots. One uses the PCIe 4.0 interface for high transfer speeds, while the other operates on the PCIe 3.0 standard. In addition, there are four SATA III ports for connecting conventional hard drives or SSDs. A fast network connection is provided by an integrated network card with a speed of 2.5Gbps.
The rear panel features six USB ports, including one USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 connector. A processor with an integrated graphics core can use the HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.2 video outputs. The 5.1 configuration audio output is provided by the Realtek ALC897 chip. Headers for connecting RGB and ARGB lighting expand the options for customising your build's appearance.
