Skeletal stiffness, also known as flex, indicates how much resistance the ski puts up against forward flex. More flex means a softer boot that provides more comfort, while less flex means a stiffer boot for more aggressive riding.

The number of buckles on a ski can significantly affect comfort and performance. More buckles often mean better closure, which leads to better power transfer to the skis, but can also mean more complicated donning and doffing.
The width of the skeleton of the ski determines how wide the skis will be and for which types of feet they are suitable. A wider width may be more comfortable for wider feet, while a narrower width may provide better control for narrower feet.
The material of the lining in the ski boot is key to overall comfort. Different materials offer different benefits such as softness, thermal insulation, or the ability to adapt to the shape of the foot, leading to better comfort throughout the day on the slopes.
