Other HDD Features
Platter HDDs have a special construction. The enclosure conceals a mechanism that uses moving platters, complete with hard disk heads that read and write the data. These mechanical parts are admittedly more sensitive to shocks, but this weak point is well-compensated by an excellent price/storage capacity ratio. The important parameter that affects the speed of a platter hard disk is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. With the Synology HAT5300-16T, you would get 7200 rev/min revolutions per minute. This is ideal for demanding users, for example video editors, graphic artists, people who play PC games, and everybody else who deal with large amounts of data. Data transmission and overall stability is also determined by the disk buffer, usually called cache. The Synology hard disk is equipped with a 512 MB cache that keeps the last written data for their prompt retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Synology Hard Drive
In order to mount the Synology HAT5300-16T in your computer or other device, it requires a 3.5" slot. All data transfer takes place via the SATA III interface, boasting a standard speed of 6 Gbit/s. The technology is one of the best HDD data transfer options available and delivers a throughput of 600 MB/s.
