The TP-Link VIGI N network recorder stores, manages and monitors video footage from connected security cameras. This device records video from up to 16 IP cameras simultaneously and saves the data to an internal hard drive. It accepts video in high resolutions up to 8MP and sends the image signal to connected monitors or TVs. A system administrator can control all functions locally or remotely using the mobile app. This recorder supports a video output resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, which corresponds to the 4K standard. Users can watch a live view of all 16 channels at once on a single screen. The device decodes up to 8 channels at 2MP resolution at a rate of 25 frames per second. Alternatively, it can process 4 channels at 4MP resolution at the same frame rate.

Encoding and bandwidth
The device uses H.265+, H.265, H.264, and H.264+ encoding formats, reducing storage space requirements. The H.265+ compression technology significantly saves network connection bandwidth and hard drive capacity. The recording data stream reaches an input rate of up to 80Mb/s. The outgoing bandwidth for remote viewing is 60Mb/s.
Connectivity and interfaces
The rear panel contains one 100Mb/s RJ-45 network port, which connects the device to the local network. Simultaneous HDMI and VGA video outputs, which operate in parallel, handle the connection of display devices. Two USB 2.0 ports are used to connect external peripherals, such as a computer mouse. Audio input and output are provided by RCA connectors.
Storage capacity and recording
The recorder's desktop-style body houses one bay for a SATA hard drive. A user can install one hard drive with a capacity of up to 10TB for storing long-term recordings. The device supports both continuous recording and schedule-based recording. The hard drive is not included in the package and must be purchased separately.
Intelligent detection and management
The recorder works with cameras to analyse images and supports motion detection or intrusion detection. The system reacts in real time to camera tampering, line crossing, or entry into a designated area. When an incident is detected, the device sends an instant notification to the user's mobile phone. These alarm functions require the use of compatible cameras. The auto-initialisation feature shortens the configuration time with a single click in the interface. The system automatically sets the basic parameters of the connected cameras and hard drive without the need for complex manual entry. The mobile app for Android and iOS operating systems enables remote monitoring and complete management of the entire camera system.
