The Ubiquiti AirMAX Yagi WiFi antenna is used for receiving and transmitting wireless signals outdoors. This Yagi-type device operates in the 902 to 928MHz frequency band. Its design uses dual linear polarisation with a high gain of 16dBi to ensure a directional connection. The antenna connects to active elements using two RP-SMA connectors. The directional design concentrates the radiated power into a narrow beam. The horizontal and vertical beamwidth ranges from 29° to 34°. The device operates at a transmission speed of up to 150Mb/s, using the 802.11n wireless standard. The front-to-back ratio is 20dB to suppress unwanted interference from the rear direction.
The metal body withstands adverse external conditions according to the IP65 ingress protection specification. The construction shows resistance to wind speeds up to 120mph, which corresponds to a wind pressure of 35 ft-lbs at 100mph. The included mounting kit with M8 U-bolts is used for mounting on a mast. The antenna can thus handle long-term operation in demanding climatic conditions.
Power is supplied via an ethernet cable with support for the PoE 802.3af standard. The device requires the connection of coaxial cables via two RP-SMA connectors. The impedance matching is expressed by the VSWR value, which does not exceed a ratio of 1.5:1 across the entire operating band. The isolation between polarisations is 20dB for stable separation of both channels.
