The CyberPower UT850EG-FR backup power supply protects IT equipment such as computers and network components. This line-interactive UPS has a real power output of 425W and an apparent power of 850VA. It uses a topology with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to stabilise the output voltage at 230V without switching to the battery. During a power outage, it powers connected devices from the backup battery with a simulated sine wave output. The GreenPower UPS technology reduces energy consumption and contributes to a lower operating temperature. Its compact tower design makes it easy to place in an office or home.
The backup power supply uses a line-interactive topology that includes automatic voltage regulation. The AVR function corrects mains voltage fluctuations with one boost and one buck stage. This maintains a stable output voltage for connected devices without needing to switch to the battery. When operating on battery power, the output voltage is a simulated sine wave. The power supply has a compact tower design. It is also compatible with external generators, which extends its range of use.
The device includes 150J surge protection and filtering against electromagnetic and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI). The PowerPanel Personal software handles power management and status monitoring. LED indicators and configurable audible alarms provide information about the current status of the device, including battery operation, low battery, or overload. During a power failure, the backup power supply powers devices from the internal battery. The backup time depends on the current load. With a 90W load, the backup time is approximately 20 minutes, and with a 200W load, it is 5.5 minutes. This time is intended for saving work and safely shutting down systems. The typical time to fully recharge the battery is 6 hours. The backup power supply offers three type E (French standard) sockets that provide both battery backup and surge protection. It also includes a combined RJ-11/RJ-45 port to protect a telephone line and data network with transfer speeds of up to 1Gbps. A USB port is used for connecting to a computer.
