WD Blue 2TB
The WD Blue 2TB hard disk is one of the standard internal HDDs for households and casual users. The 3.5" format is designed chiefly for desktop PCs, data centres, and other data-processing devices. One of the main characteristics is undoubtedly the number of revolutions per minute (RPM). The 5400 rev/min RPM should meet the needs of most ordinary PC users. You can look forward to a total data capacity of 2000 GB. The storage features a 64 MB memory cache. All the data communication between the Western Digital hard drive and the PC or other devices takes place through the SATA III interface.
WD Blue 2TB HDD Key Features
- 64 MB memory cache
- Western Digital 3.5" drive for standard bays
- Standard power consumption is 4 W, while in stand-by mode it holds at 0.3 W
- It communicates with a PC or other devices through the SATA III interface
Other HDD Features
Platter HDDs have a special construction. The enclosure conceals a mechanism with moving platters, complete with disk read and write heads. These moving parts are not particularly resistant against shock or impact, but on the upside, this design also delivers an affordable price tag and high storage capacity. The crucial parameter that affects the speed of a hard drive is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. In case of the WD Blue 2TB, you get 5400 rev/min revolutions per minute. These drives are generally used in computers and other home devices that aren't built for high performance. System responsivity and stability is also determined by the disk buffer, usually called cache. The Western Digital hard drive is equipped with a 64 MB cache that stores the last data inputs for their speedy reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Disk
If you want to mount the WD Blue 2TB in your computer or other device, you need a 3.5" slot. All data transfer happens through the SATA III interface, boasting a standard speed of 6 Gbit/s. This technology ranks among the most popular HDD data transfer options available and delivers a speed of 600 MB/s.
