WD Gold 8TB
The WD Gold 8TB hard drive belongs among the high load internal HDDs compatible with NAS data storage solutions. The 3.5" format is designed mainly for desktop PCs and data centres. One of the main parameters is obviously the number of revolutions per minute (RPM). The 7200 rev/min RPM provides better speeds when working with multimedia and data. The hard disk provides a storage capacity of 8000 GB. The storage uses a 256 MB memory cache. All the data communication between the Western Digital hard disk and the PC or other devices takes place using the SATA III interface.
WD Gold 8TB Hard Disk Key Features
- Read speed up to 267 MB/s and write speed up to 267 MB/s
- 256 MB memory cache
- Western Digital 3.5" disk is compatible with classic bays
- The data transfer is facilitated using the SATA III interface
Other Hard Disk Features
Platter HDDs have a special construction. Inside the enclosure there is a mechanism with moving platters, complete with disk read and write heads. These moving parts can be damaged by a shock or impact, but this design delivers its amazing price/capacity ratio. The key parameter that affects the speed of a platter hard disk is the number of rotations per minute (RPM). With the WD Gold 8TB, you would get 7200 rev/min RPM. It's a great model for more demanding users, such as graphic designers, gamers, video editors, and people who tend to use large amounts of data. File access speed and overall stability is also determined by the disk buffer, usually called cache. The Western Digital platter drive is equipped with a 256 MB cache that stores the last used data for their prompt retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Disk
In order to mount the WD Gold 8TB in your computer or other device, you need a 3.5" slot. Data sharing is done using the SATA III interface with a standard speed of 6 Gbit/s. The technology is one of the best HDD data transfer solutions available and delivers a throughput of 600 MB/s.
