WD Purple 2TB
The WD Purple 2TB hard drive belongs among the high load internal HDDs for 24/7 monitoring systems, e.g. security cameras. 3.5" HDDs are designed primarily for desktop PCs and data centres. The hard disk provides a storage capacity of 2000 GB. The storage features a 64 MB memory cache. You can link the Western Digital hard disk and other hardware is takes place via the SATA III interface.
WD Purple 2TB HDD Key Features
- 64 MB memory cache
- Western Digital 3.5" disk is compatible with classic bays
- Standard power consumption is 3,8 W, while in stand-by mode it holds at 0.3 W
- All the data communication takes place through the SATA III interface
Platter HDDs have a special construction. Inside the drive there is a mechanism with moving platters accompanied by hard disk heads that facilitate reading and writing of data. These moving parts can be damaged by a shock or impact, but this weak point is well-compensated by its amazing price/capacity ratio. Data transmission and overall stability is also affected by the disk buffer - the so-called cache. The Western Digital hard drive features a 64 MB cache that stores the last used data for their prompt retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Disk
If you want to install the WD Purple 2TB in the device of your choice, it requires a 3.5" slot. Data transfer happens via the SATA III interface, boasting a standard speed of 6 Gbit/s. This technology is one of the best HDD data transfer solutions available and delivers a speed of 600 MB/s.
