The HDD boasts a unique design. Inside the hard drive there is a mechanism that utilises moving platters, complete with hard disk heads that facilitate reading and writing of data. These moving parts are not particularly resistant against shock or impact, but this weak point is well-compensated by a great combo of a low price and great storage capacity. Data transmission and overall stability is also impacted by the disk buffer - the so-called cache. The Western Digital hard disk includes a 128 MB cache that stores the last used data for their speedy reading.
Connecting the Western Digital HDD
In order to mount the WD Purple 3TB in your PC or other device, you need a 3.5" slot. Data transfer happens using the SATA III interface with a speed of 3 Gbit/s. This technology ranks among the best HDD data transfer solutions available and delivers a throughput of 600 MB/s.
