WD Purple Pro 14TB
The WD Purple Pro 14TB hard disk is one of the high load internal HDDs for monitoring systems. The 3.5" format is designed mainly for desktop PCs and data centres. One of the crucial parameters is clearly the rotational speed of the HDD. The 7200 RPM RPM provides improved performance and data speeds. The hard disk provides a storage capacity of 14000 GB. The device has a 512 MB memory cache. The data transfer between the Western Digital hard drive and other hardware is takes place using the SATA III interface.
WD Purple Pro 14TB HDD Key Features
- Read speed up to 255 MB/s and write speed up to 255 MB/s
- 512 MB memory cache

- Typically, the power consumption of the hard drive is 5,7 W, while in stand-by mode it holds at 0.8 W
- It communicates with a PC or other devices via the SATA III interface
- Although standard HDDs are a tad more fragile due to their mechanical parts, but they offer a great storage capacity/performance ratio
Other HDD Features
The HDD boasts a unique design. The enclosure conceals a mechanism with moving platters accompanied by disk read/write heads. These mechanical parts are admittedly more sensitive to shocks, but on the upside, this design also delivers an excellent price/storage capacity ratio. The crucial parameter that affects the speed of a HDD is RPM - the number of revolutions per minute. In case of the WD Purple Pro 14TB, you would get 7200 RPM RPM. This is welcome news for people with higher requirements, for example video editors, graphic artists, people who play PC games, and everybody else who deal with large amounts of data. Data transmission and stability is also determined the embedded buffer memory known as cache. The Western Digital HDD is equipped with a 512 MB cache that stores the last used data for their fast retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Western Digital HDD
If you want to install the WD Purple Pro 14TB in your computer or other device, you need a 3.5" slot. Data sharing is done via the SATA III interface with a speed of 3 Gbit/s. The technology is one of the most popular HDD data transfer solutions available and delivers a throughput of 600 MB/s.
