Other HDD Features
The HDD boasts a unique design. The enclosure conceals a mechanism that uses moving platters accompanied by hard disk heads that read and write the data. These mechanical parts are admittedly more sensitive to shocks, but this weak point is well-compensated by its amazing price/capacity ratio. The key criterion that affects the speed of a hard disk is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. With the WD Red Plus 12TB, you would get 7200 rev/min RPM. It's a great model for more demanding users, for example video editors, graphic artists, people who play PC games, and everybody else who deal with large amounts of data. File access speed and overall stability is also affected by the disk buffer - the so-called cache. The Western Digital HDD features a 512 MB cache that stores the last used data for their prompt retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Disk
In order to mount the WD Red Plus 12TB in the device of your choice, it must be equipped with a 3.5" slot. The communication between the HDD and PC happens through the SATA III interface with a speed of 3 Gbit/s. The technology is one of the best HDD data transfer options available and delivers a speed of 600 MB/s.
