WD Red Plus 6TB
The WD Red Plus 6TB hard disk belongs among the high load internal HDDs for the NAS storage solution environment. The 3.5" format is designed chiefly for desktop PCs and data centres. One of the crucial characteristics is obviously the rotational speed. The 5400 rev/min RPM should satisfy the demands of most typical users. The overall data capacity of the HDD is 6000 GB. The drive uses a 256 MB memory cache. You can link the Western Digital hard disk and other hardware is takes place using the SATA III interface.
WD Red Plus 6TB Hard Drive Key Features
- 256 MB memory cache
- Western Digital 3.5" format disk fits into classic larger bays
- You can connect it to a PC or other devices via the SATA III interface
Other Hard Disk Features
Standard HDDs are notable for their construction. The enclosure conceals a mechanism that uses moving platters accompanied by disk read/write heads. These moving parts can be damaged by a shock or impact, but at the same time you get an affordable price tag and high storage capacity. The key parameter that determines the speed of a hard disk is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. With the WD Red Plus 6TB, you would get 5400 rev/min revolutions per minute. You can find these drives mainly in PCs and other devices meant for standard office work. Data transmission and overall stability is also affected by the disk buffer - the so-called cache. The Western Digital platter drive features a 256 MB cache that stores the last used data for their prompt retrieval and reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Drive
If you want to mount the WD Red Plus 6TB in the device of your choice, it requires a 3.5" slot. All communication with the computer happens using the SATA III interface, boasting a standard speed of 6 Gbit/s. This technology is one of the most popular HDD data transfer options available and delivers a speed of 600 MB/s.
