For rapid qualitative detection of leukocytes, blood, nitrite and protein in human urine. Designed for in vitro diagnostics, for self-testing.

The urinary tract infection test is a hard plastic strip on which several separate test pads with reagents are placed. The test is designed for the qualitative detection of the following analytes in urine: leukocytes (white blood cells), blood, nitrites and proteins. The one-time urinary tract infection test is designed for self-testing.
Leukocytes:
This test detects the presence of granulocyte esterases. Esterases cleave the derivatized pyrosol ester of an amino acid to release the derivatized hydroxylpyrazole. This pyrazole then reacts with the diazonium salt to produce a beige-pink to purple colour.
Krev:
This assay is based on hemoglobin-like peroxidase activity, which catalyzes the reaction of diisopropylbenzene dihydroperoxide and 3,3´,5,5´-tetramethylbenzidine. The resulting colour ranges from orange to green to dark blue.
Dusitans:
This test is related to the conversion of nitrate to nitrite by Gram-negative bacteria in the urine. In an acidic environment, nitrite in urine reacts with p-arsanilic acid to form a diazonium compound. The diazo compound subsequently binds to 1 N-(1-naphthyl)-ethylenediamine and produces a pink colour.
Protein:
This reaction is based on a phenomenon known as the "protein error" of the pH indicator, whereby a highly buffered indicator changes colour in the presence of proteins (anions) because the indicator releases hydrogen ions into the proteins. The colours range from yellow to yellow-green for negative results and from green to green-blue for positive results.
