APC Easy-UPS BVX 900VA (IEC)

The APC Easy-UPS BVX 900VA IEC is a line-interactive solution that provides comprehensive protection for computers and sensitive electronics against power outages, grid instability and voltage spikes. The integrated surge protection, with an absorption capacity of 273J, protects connected electronics from damage caused by sudden voltage spikes or lightning strikes on the grid. With an apparent power of 900VA and a real power of 480W, it provides sufficient capacity for standard workstations, network components or small servers. The Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) technology actively corrects undervoltage and overvoltage without switching to battery power, saving battery capacity for a complete power failure. All four IEC C13 output sockets are fully backed up and protected against surges. At half load (240W), it keeps connected devices running for 6.5 minutes, giving you enough time to save your work and shut down the system correctly.

Performance and efficiency

The backup power supply operates with a line-interactive topology, which includes an Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) function. This mechanism stabilises fluctuating input voltage to a safe level without activating the battery mode, resulting in a longer battery life. With a total output of 480W, it can power a desktop computer setup with a monitor. Its high operating efficiency of up to 97% at full load reduces energy loss and limits waste heat production. At half load, the efficiency is still a high 94.5%.

Battery and maintenance of the APC Easy-UPS BVX 900VA IEC backup power supply

Inside is a 12V lead-acid battery with a capacity of 9.0Ah. It takes approximately 8 hours to fully charge a depleted battery. One of the features of this UPS is that the battery is easily user-replaceable, which simplifies maintenance at the end of its life and reduces the total cost of ownership. The unit supports a cold start function, which starts connected devices directly from the battery even when there is no mains power available.

Design and operating conditions of the backup power supply

The power supply has a compact tower design, which makes it easy to place on the floor next to or near a desk. With dimensions of 120×160×335mm and a weight of 6.0kg, it doesn't take up much space. The operating noise level is 40dBA, which is equivalent to a quiet office environment. This backup power supply for PC is designed for operation in a temperature range of 0 to 40°C. The device does not include a USB communication interface for management via software.

Connectivity and sockets

An IEC C14 input connector is used to connect to the mains. To power protected devices, the supply provides a total of four IEC C13 output sockets. An important feature is that all four outputs are fully backed up and protected against surges.
