The NAS Asustor AS6504RS/RAIL KIT serves as network storage for saving, managing, and backing up company data in small and medium-sized businesses. This 1U rack-mounted device accommodates four hard drives or SSDs and uses a quad-core Intel Atom C3538 processor with a frequency of 2.1GHz. The 8GB of DDR4 system memory helps the ADM operating system and demanding network applications run smoothly. The server architecture can handle continuous 24/7 operation and undergoes strict burn-in and drop tests to verify its durability in demanding conditions.
The rear panel includes two standard Gigabit Ethernet ports and two high-speed 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports. By using the link aggregation function, transfer speeds can reach up to 5Gbps, speeding up file access for multiple users simultaneously. The network interface supports both Wake-on-LAN and Wake-on-WAN, which enables remote startup. The four Ethernet ports provide redundancy in case one of the connections fails, preventing downtime on the corporate network.
The device has one expansion slot where users can install add-on cards. They can fit a 10GbE adapter for fast data transfers or a SAS card to connect external expansion units. This allows them to increase the total storage capacity. The PCIe slot gives companies the flexibility to increase both performance and capacity according to their future needs.
The storage works fully with VMware, Citrix, and Hyper-V virtualisation platforms. The iSCSI/IP-SAN and NFS protocols allow for easy integration into existing company infrastructures. Users also have the Docker platform at their disposal for easy management of containerised applications. The system supports Windows ACL and Linux ACL for precise access rights configuration for up to 4096 users and 512 groups.
The ADM operating system comes with integrated support for PQC TLS hybrid encryption, which is certified by the NIST. This technology protects stored data from future threats posed by quantum computers. The encryption works automatically via the TLS 1.3 protocol without needing complex configuration. The system uses the official version of the Kyber algorithm, X25519+ML-KEM 768, which secures the connection during management via the web interface.
The Btrfs file system can create up to 256 volume snapshots for quick data recovery. MyArchive technology turns hard drives into removable archival media with the option of AES-256 encryption. The Cloud Backup Center and DataSync Center applications ensure synchronisation with public clouds. Snapshots can be taken every five minutes, which protects company data from the consequences of ransomware attacks.
The device can serve as a surveillance centre with support for connecting up to 64 IP cameras. Management is made easier by a function for locating the physical NAS in the server room using a buzzer and flashing LED. Administrators can activate a service light on the rear panel by pressing a button on the front.
