Cars with drum brakes also include brake shoes, which contribute to effective braking. They are directly part of the drum brake, and if it pushes on it, it starts to brake. Assembly of the jaws is simple, you can handle it yourself. After lifting the car with a jack, you lock it against movement. Then you remove the wheel and replace the shoe when the brake system is exposed.
