The Vitamin D Rapid Test (whole blood) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the semi-quantitative determination of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) in human fingertip blood. This analysis provides a preliminary diagnostic test result and can be used to screen for vitamin D deficiency. If the result is deficient or insufficient, it means that the blood level of vitamin D is less than 30 ng/mL and you should see a doctor and show him the test result. The doctor will then decide whether further analysis is needed. If the result is sufficient, it means that the vitamin D level is greater than or equal to 30 ng/mL and falls within the normal range. Cases of vitamin D toxicity (hypercaemia) are rare but cannot be ruled out on the basis of such a test result. However, if symptoms persist, it is recommended to see a doctor.

Vitamin D refers to a group of fat-soluble secosteroids responsible for increasing intestinal absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium phosphate and zinc. In humans, the most important substances in this group are vitamin D3 and vitamin D2. Vitamin D3 is naturally formed in human skin when exposed to ultraviolet light, and vitamin D2 is mainly obtained from the diet. Vitamin D is transported to the liver where it is metabolized to 25-hydroxy vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is now considered a global epidemic. Almost every cell in our body has receptors for vitamin D, which means they all require "sufficient" levels of vitamin D to function properly. The health risks associated with vitamin D deficiency are much more serious than previously thought. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to many serious diseases: Osteoporosis, Osteomalacia, multiple sclerosis, cardiovascular disease, complications in pregnancy, diabetes, depression, Stroke, autoimmune diseases, the flu, various cancers, infectious diseases, Alzheimer's disease, obesity and increased mortality, etc.
