EATON UPS 5PX 1000i RT2U Netpack Gen2

EATON UPS 5PX 1000i RT2U Netpack Gen2
The Eaton UPS 5PX 1000i RT2U with Netpack Gen2 is a line-interactive rack UPS that protects servers, network components and data storage. It provides a true power output of 1000W, matching its apparent power of 1000VA thanks to a unity power factor. The backup power supply for servers operates with an efficiency of up to 98%, which reduces operating costs. It includes an Eaton Gigabit network card (Netpack Gen2) with dual cybersecurity certification. The universal 2U design supports both horizontal rack mounting and vertical installation as a tower. A clear graphical LCD displays operational information and simplifies initial setup.

Power and efficiency
The Eaton line-interactive UPS uses a topology that actively regulates grid fluctuations without switching to battery power, thus preserving battery life. A unity power factor (W=VA) means the supply delivers a full 1000W for modern IT equipment with active PFC power supplies, such as servers and workstations. Energy Star 2.0 certification confirms a high operating efficiency of up to 98%, which reduces electricity consumption and waste heat production in the server room. At full load, it powers connected devices for 17 minutes from its internal batteries. The output is always a pure sine wave, suitable for sensitive electronics.
Battery management for the Eaton 5PX 1000i RT2U backup power supply
Battery life is extended by Eaton ABM technology, which uses an advanced three-stage charging method and continuous monitoring of the batteries' condition. This process reduces electrode corrosion and extends battery life by up to 50%. Inside are four maintenance-free 12V / 7Ah sealed lead-acid batteries, which can be hot-swapped by the user without interrupting power to connected devices. The system protects the batteries from deep discharge and automatically tests their condition at regular intervals. To significantly extend the backup time, up to four external battery modules (EBM) can be connected to this rack UPS.
Remote management and cybersecurity
The included Eaton Gigabit Netpack Gen2 network card provides monitoring and control. The card has dual cybersecurity certification (UL 2900-1 and IEC 62443-4-2), which confirms its resilience against network threats. The card supports secure remote firmware updates and complete UPS configuration via a web interface. In addition to the Ethernet port, USB and RS-232 interfaces are also available for local communication. Eaton Intelligent Power Manager software integrates the backup power supply into virtualisation environments like VMware or Hyper-V and automates the safe shutdown of systems during a prolonged power outage. The supply connects to the mains via a standard IEC C14 input. To power appliances, it offers eight IEC C13 output sockets. It divides these sockets into two independently controllable groups. This feature enables you to prioritise critical loads and extend their backup time by sequentially disconnecting less important devices, such as test servers or secondary network components. It is also possible to measure energy consumption at the level of individual socket groups. You can configure the segments and other settings directly via the intuitive graphical LCD on the front panel.
