The Eaton 5PX 2200i RT2U Gen2 backup power supply is a professional line-interactive UPS that protects servers, data storage, and network components. With a unity power factor, it delivers a true power output of 2200W, matching its apparent power of 2200VA, thus fully utilising its capacity for modern IT equipment with active PFC. The integrated automatic voltage regulation (AVR) corrects network fluctuations without switching to the battery, saving its capacity for a complete power outage. At 100% load, it powers connected devices for 10 minutes, providing enough time to safely shut down operations. The versatile 2U rack/tower design supports flexible installation in a data rack or as a standalone unit.

Performance and efficiency

The Eaton power supply operates with line-interactive topology and delivers a unity power factor, where the true power of 2200W equals the apparent power of 2200VA. The automatic voltage regulation (AVR) function stabilises the output voltage without switching to the battery. With 98% efficiency at full load, verified by ENERGY STAR 2.0 certification, it reduces operating costs and heat production. This high efficiency contributes to lower electricity consumption. The backup time at maximum load is 10 minutes.

Battery management and backup extension

Inside are six maintenance-free lead-acid batteries (6×12V/7Ah) that can be hot-swapped. Advanced Battery Management (ABM) extends battery life by up to 50% using a three-stage, temperature-compensated charging process. The cold start function starts the UPS even without an input power supply. The backup time can be extended by connecting up to four external battery modules (EBMs). A clear graphical LCD screen displays operational information and simplifies configuration. The Eaton Intelligent Power Manager and Protector software integrates the UPS into virtualisation environments. The device also measures energy consumption at the socket group level, displaying the values on the screen or in the software.

Backup power supply management and monitoring options

For management and communication, it offers a HID-compliant USB port, an RS-232 serial port, and a mini-terminal block for remote control. The input power connects via an IEC C20 connector. For load connection, it provides eight IEC C13 sockets and two more powerful IEC C19 sockets. The device supports output socket segment management, which allows remote control of five of them. This function disconnects less important loads and extends the backup time for critical servers or network components. It also enables sequential start-up of connected devices, limiting inrush currents during system start-up.
