Grandstream GWN7665, Wi-Fi 6E

Grandstream GWN7665, Wi-Fi 6E
The Grandstream GWN7665 Wi-Fi 6E Access Point is a tri-band access point for enterprise environments with a high density of wireless devices. It uses the Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) standard, which adds connectivity in the 6GHz band to complement the existing 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. This Wi-Fi 6E Access Point provides an aggregated wireless throughput of up to 5373.5Mb/s, split between 573.5Mb/s on the 2.4GHz band and 2400Mb/s on each of the 5GHz and 6GHz bands. Its design allows for up to 384 concurrent clients and provides signal coverage with a radius of up to 175 metres. Network management is flexible thanks to a built-in controller for up to 50 local APs, the GDMS cloud platform, or the local GWN Manager software.
Key features
- Supports MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies for serving multiple clients simultaneously
- Signal range of up to 175m
- Serves up to 384 concurrently connected client devices
- Includes one Gigabit and one 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port
- Functions in access point mode
- Network security supports the WPA3 standard and includes an anti-hacking secure boot feature
- Management via a cloud interface, mobile app or built-in controller
Wi-Fi 6E performance
The access point operates on the Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) standard and works across three frequency bands: 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz. The addition of the 6GHz band brings extra channels free from interference from older devices, resulting in lower latency and higher data throughput. It uses OFDMA and 2×2 MU-MIMO technologies for efficient data flow distribution. OFDMA technology divides a channel into smaller units for simultaneous communication with multiple clients, reducing wait times. MU-MIMO supports simultaneous data streams to multiple devices. A set of seven internal antennas handles signal distribution.
Capacity and coverage
The device serves networks with high user density in office buildings, educational institutions, or public spaces. It supports the simultaneous connection of up to 384 client devices. In open spaces, the signal covers a distance of up to 175m. For detailed network segmentation, it supports the creation of up to 48 separate SSIDs—specifically, 16 for each frequency band. This lets network administrators separate traffic for guests, employees, or specific device groups, such as IoT sensors, and apply different security and bandwidth management rules to each network.
Advanced management and traffic control
Grandstream GWN7665 offers several management methods for different deployments. Each unit includes a built-in controller that manages up to 50 local GWN series access points without needing extra hardware. For larger networks, the GDMS (Grandstream Device Management System) cloud platform provides centralised management of an unlimited number of APs from a single web interface. Companies that prefer a local infrastructure can use the GWN Manager software. An integrated QoS (Quality of Service) function prioritises network traffic for latency-sensitive applications, such as VoIP calls or video conferences.
Security and connectivity
To protect the wireless network, the device supports the modern WPA3 encryption standard while maintaining backward compatibility with WPA2-PSK and WPA2-Enterprise. The security architecture includes an anti-hacking secure boot feature, which verifies firmware integrity on startup and prevents unauthorised software from being loaded. Each device has a unique security certificate. For wired connections, the access point offers one 1Gb/s Ethernet port and one 2.5Gb/s Ethernet port. The faster port prevents the wired connection from becoming a network bottleneck. It is powered exclusively via PoE+ (802.3at), eliminating the need for a separate power cable for ceiling or wall installations.
