Prehistoric Giants

Prehistoric Giants
Build your own dinosaur museum in the game Prehistoric Giants
In Prehistoric Giants, players become palaeontologists, collecting beautiful fossils to display in their museum. Choose which animal species you will study and use their unique abilities before you add them to your collection. Be careful when you display your fossils, because once you do, you can no longer use their effects. But if you wait too long, you might miss the opportunity to score points. Will you push your game engine further, or will you sacrifice it at the right moment? Prehistoric Giants is an 'engine-deconstruction' game with simple rules for 2 to 5 players, in which players compete as palaeontologists to create the most prestigious prehistoric exhibition.

Who is the game for?
Prehistoric Giants will appeal to players looking for an accessible strategy game with simple rules but interesting decision-making. Thanks to its brisk pace, it's suitable for both families and casual players who don't have time for long games. The accessibility of the rules makes the game an ideal choice for families and players who are new to board games. It will also appeal to players who enjoy collecting sets and combining card effects. The dinosaur theme makes it attractive for younger players or families with children. More experienced players will appreciate the timing and efficient management of their collection.
Each game brings new combinations and strategic decisions
The variety of cards ensures that each game will be different and players must adapt to what's currently on offer. Creating sets adds another layer of decision-making, as the right combination can significantly increase your score. Player interaction is indirect through card selection, which keeps the game clear but competitive at the same time. The compact packaging and quick setup allow you to take Prehistoric Giants anywhere and play it at virtually any time.
Game rules in a nutshell
In Prehistoric Giants, first take 1 token from your board and place it on a dig site that doesn't already have one of your tokens on it. Take 1 of the 2 cards from the dig site and place it in your research, which is above your board. Use the card's effect and any corresponding recurring effects. Then, take all your tokens from the dig sites and return them to your board. For each token you get back, choose one of the following effects – gain 1 amber or display 1 fossil. You can choose a different effect for each token you get back, and you can perform them in any order.
Display the fossils
To display a fossil in Prehistoric Giants, pay the amount of amber corresponding to its size (1, 2, or 3). After paying the amber, take the card from your research and place it face down under your board. When displaying a fossil, you can either start a new set or expand an existing set – a family (1, 2, 3) or a size set (2, 2, 2, 2). You must expand your set to score points. Each time you expand a set, take 1 set token (= 1 victory point). If another player obtains the same type of set with more cards, they steal the corresponding token.
End of the game
The game Prehistoric Giants ends when a player takes the last set token from the common supply or when the deck of cards runs out after a player has refilled the dig site. Take all remaining set tokens from the box and add them to the common supply. The game continues until all players have played the same number of turns. Then the game ends and players count their points.
