Darkness has a new name
...and Martin Servaz knows it well.
The ninth case in the bestselling series. When a true crime podcast about the elusive serial killer Julian Hirtmann goes viral, a chilling cult quickly forms around his story. Millions of listeners, bloggers, and amateur investigators scour the details of his crimes – and their obsession fuels a new wave of fear. The moment young women start to disappear, Inspector Martin Servaz is back in action. The trail leads to the past... and into a world where reality is lost in the media noise.
Is Hirtmann back? Or is the truth even more terrifying?
Bernard Minier
Bernard Minier grew up in the southwest of France, spending his childhood in the Pyrenees. He studied at the University of Toulouse, which is also the home of Martin Servaz, the protagonist of several of his thrillers. He has lived near Paris for over twenty years, is married, and has two children. Before Minier surprised French readers and critics in 2011 with his detective novel The Frozen Dead (Mráz), he worked as a customs official. His belated, and perhaps for that reason more mature, debut won several awards, such as the Elle magazine readers' prize (in the detective story category) and, notably, the prestigious Prix Polar at the Cognac festival of detective literature. The Frozen Dead has been translated into several world languages, including English, and was also adapted into the French television series Glacé. Minier's other books have also garnered success with both readers and critics.
