Lament of the thrush

AN OLD MURDER. AN INEXPLICABLE DISAPPEARANCE. AND A TERRIFYING SECRET THAT CONNECTS THEM.

Shortly before the accident, a traffic camera captures Cate and Aiden Gascoigne. They're smiling, and everything seems to be perfectly fine. Just a few seconds later, their car plunges into a thirty-metre-deep chasm, where it instantly bursts into flames like a torch.

There's no way the couple could have survived such an accident. But when the firefighters finally manage to extinguish the inferno, a surprise awaits them. They find no bodies or charred remains in the car or the immediate vicinity. The Gascoignes have vanished into thin air.

Two and a half years later, the desperate family turns to private investigator David Raker, who immediately starts to unravel the mystery. Why did the Gascoignes' car drive off the road? And where did the couple go? Did they want to fake their own deaths? But why like this? And what for? Or who for?

Unanswered questions are piling up for David Raker. And he has no idea what a horrific secret he will uncover beneath the layers of lies, nor that in his hunt for the truth, he himself will become the hunted.
