The Lost Queen

The first volume in a trilogy revealing the previously unknown story of a real, yet now sadly forgotten, 6th-century Scottish queen.

Languoreth, one of the most powerful early medieval queens in British history, reigned during a time of immense turmoil and bloodshed, when Christianity was spreading across the British Isles, suppressing traditional beliefs and changing her life forever.

Along with her twin brother, Lailoken—a warrior and druid later known as Merlin—Languoreth is thrust into a world filled with danger and violence. It is war that brings the hero known as Pendragon to her door, and Languoreth falls in love with one of his warriors. However, as a high-born daughter, she is betrothed to the son of the High King, who sympathises with the followers of Christianity. Languoreth accepts her role and resolves to fight for the preservation of the old ways, her kingdom, and everything she holds dear.

In an effort to portray 6th-century southern Scotland and the world of the Britons as faithfully as possible, the author dedicated almost six years to writing this novel, including extensive research. Her work offers not only a captivating story of a young Scottish queen but also an opportunity to learn a little about early medieval Scotland, the events and significant historical figures of the time, and the lives of the people in the region around modern-day Glasgow after the departure of the Roman legions.
