Together with leading probiotic experts, ProBioBED has succeeded in selecting resistant and natural strains of lactobacilli that have been processed to be able to survive in the litter for a long time. How do lactobacilli actually work? Probiotics are inactive in shavings during production and storage - they are dormant. They are activated by body contact (temperature) and begin to perform their function, i.e. compete for "living space" with pathogenic organisms. Friendly bacteria are on virtually every part of the body. Protects skin, limbs and is part of the digestive tract.

If the natural balance of bacteria in animals is disturbed, e.g. after an illness, it is advisable to use probiotic bedding. If the animal develops an infection, it will first be necessary to administer drugs, conventional veterinary preparations and to cure the animal. At the same time, it is important to thoroughly disinfect everything. Thus all organisms, both pathogenic and friendly, are eliminated. Then it depends on many factors whether the natural healthy environment can be restored or whether infection will prevail again. If we use a litter with a probiotic, we purposefully increase the amount of friendly bacteria, which immediately after their activation begin to restore the natural environment in the litter and reduce the risk of spreading the disease.

Lactobacillus mushrooms are not a medicine and were never intended to perform this function. They have a supportive function in situations where the animal is weakened or has suffered from an illness, or when other external influences negatively affect the life balance of the animals.
Instructions for handling and use of probiotic bedding:
Probiotics are activated by contact with animals, human skin or temperatures above 30 °C. When handling, do not touch bedding that you will not use immediately. Sprinkling the bedding in the stall does not negatively affect the activity of the probiotic culture. If you are not going to use the entire litter pack immediately, siphon off some of the contents or use a clean scoop or gloves to remove the required amount. Then wrap and seal the remaining part of the bag. Contact "activated" bedding can be used without loss of probiotic effect in the following 7 days.
