The network interface remains fully compatible with older 1Gb/s and 100Mb/s standards. Four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports are available for connecting external devices, and the network interface supports Wake on LAN.
Operating system and expansion slots
The NAS QNAP TS-855eU-RP-8G supports upgrading to the QuTS hero operating system, which is built on the advanced ZFS file system. Two M.2 PCIe NVMe slots can be used for SSD cache acceleration or as a system drive. Two PCIe Gen 3 × 4 slots are used for installing expansion cards to increase the overall system performance. Fast network cards with speeds of up to 25Gb/s or adapters for M.2 NVMe drives can be fitted into the free positions. The system also supports the installation of Fibre Channel cards for integration into existing SAN networks. JBOD expansion units can be connected to the device to add more hard drives as needed.
Data protection with snapshots
The block snapshot feature records the state of the system at any point in time and protects data from ransomware attacks. If data becomes corrupted, the system restores the files to their previous state in seconds. Replicating snapshots to remote storage increases the security of important company data. Backups are simplified by the Hybrid Backup Sync tool with support for cloud services and QuDedup technology.
