The SilentPower DC Blocker adapter eliminates the mechanical hum from toroidal transformers in audio amplifiers. This unwanted noise is caused by the presence of DC voltage in the mains electricity supply. The white device connects directly to the IEC power inlet on the back of your equipment. It effectively blocks DC current from entering the power supply section without compromising safety. This helps the entire audio system run quietly and stably across a wide voltage range of 90V to 240V.
Large toroidal transformers in amplifiers often produce an audible mechanical hum. This occurs when the transformer's core becomes saturated by a DC component in the mains supply. The device solves this problem right at the point of power entry. By specifically filtering out the unwanted DC voltage, it restores the transformer's quiet operation. This gives the listener a clean audio background, free from intrusive frequencies from the surrounding mains network.
The system uses a high-performance glass-passivated semiconductor to block the unwanted current. The circuitry removes the DC component with high precision. Meanwhile, the AC current passes through completely unrestricted. This ensures the transformer operates in its optimal mode without thermal losses.
The construction meets strict safety standards and is UL listed. The casing has a high dielectric strength of 1500VRMS. Fire-resistant polymers protect the internal electronics from damage, with the fire resistance meeting the UL94-V0 standard for the entire IEC socket, connector and chassis. The overall integrity of the electrical circuit and the protection of the connected audio device remain fully preserved throughout its operation.
When filtering the power supply, it's critical to maintain protection against external interference. This device does not compromise the integrity of the shielding system in any way. The electromagnetic EMI shielding remains fully functional along the entire path. No additional high-frequency noise from the surroundings can enter the signal path. The result is a stable power transfer without degrading the audio signal.
Its compact size makes installation easy, even in tight spaces behind audio equipment. The device won't block adjacent connectors, sockets or nearby cables. The universal design is suitable for standard IEC connectors with voltages up to 240V. The continuous current rating is 7A, which is sufficient for most common audio components. Setup simply requires plugging it in between the power cable and your device.
