Ubiquiti UniFi UPS 2U

The Ubiquiti UniFi UPS 2U rackmount backup power supply stabilises the power to your connected network infrastructure. This line-interactive device, housed in a galvanised steel chassis, offers an apparent power of 1500VA and a real power of 1000W. At full load, the backup time is 138s. At half load, the backup time extends to 480s to overcome network outages. The IP20-rated device has a height of 87.4mm, making it easy to install in standard racks, and it operates safely within an input voltage range of 170V to 280V AC.

Performance parameters

The line-interactive architecture maintains a stable output voltage with a nominal value of 230V. The device operates with high energy efficiency, reaching 95% at 100% load. At half load, the efficiency increases to 98%, reducing operating costs and heat output. The Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) function corrects fluctuations in the mains supply without needing to discharge the battery. The typical transfer time to battery power is around 6ms.

Rackmount design

The IP20-rated steel chassis meets the standards for 2U rack mounting. The total height of the device is 87.4mm, the width is 442.4mm, and the depth is 300mm. The device weighs 13.7kg and the frame width corresponds to 482.6mm. The galvanised steel construction withstands the mechanical stress of demanding data centre operations. The device operates reliably in environments with an ambient temperature of 0°C to 40°C and non-condensing humidity of up to 95%.

Battery and power

The power supply uses two 12V lead-acid batteries with a capacity of 9Ah. The batteries, with a total capacity of 216Wh, can be user-replaced on-site if necessary. The charging cycle restores 90% of the battery capacity within 6 to 8 hours. Integrated protection circuits prevent deep battery discharge and protect the system from overload or short circuits. If overloaded above 110% in mains mode, the device will enter an error state after 5 minutes.

System management and monitoring

The device supports advanced power management via its built-in Ethernet interface. Users can take advantage of the Graceful Shutdown feature for safe, automatic shutdown of UNVR and UNAS network storage. Compatibility with the NUT protocol simplifies integration with third-party systems for centralised monitoring. LED indicators on the front panel show the current power status, battery mode, initialisation process, or any warnings. There is also a physical button for power and factory reset.

Connectivity and sockets

The input power is supplied via a standard IEC C14 socket for 220–240V AC with a maximum current of 10A. The output side consists of a total of eight IEC C13 sockets and is compatible with type F sockets in relevant countries. Half of these ports provide both battery backup and surge protection. The other four sockets offer only surge protection for less critical devices. Network security is complemented by one Ethernet port for network connection and two Gigabit ports to protect the data line from surges.
